Quilted Housecoat
Quilted Housecoat
Pieced together with several years of work, this coat is patchworked and quilted, naturally dyed and handwoven. There is also a layer of cotton batting on the inside for added comfort, warmth and squishiness.
The lining (although this coat can be reversed…) is cotton gauze fabric, painted with mordants and dyed in cutch. The exterior is cotton and naturally colored merino-alpaca on the top section and wool-cotton twill dyed in chestnut and lac. The striping in these warm colored sections is dye to the material difference in color take-up while dying. The pockets are a pinstripe cotton and linen twill fabric.
The entire coat is hand-quilted with cotton yarn.
Size is medium.
Can be washed in a delicate cycle in cool water, dry on low or lay flat to dry. All fabrics are pre-shrunk and have been washed.

Making coats is an extension of encouraging self- love. My aim is to create something that makes you want to curl up and feel truly cozy - like you are being held in a warm embrace. We all crave and need that: to be held, to be admired, to be cherished, to be seen for all of who we are and still be seen as worthwhile. My textiles are an extension of this feeling. My warm hug for you.
