Mending + Embroidery Kit (with green scissors)
This kit includes around 30 pieces of fabric of various weights and sizes - some are naturally dyed, some are handwoven, some are small enough to be used in your embroidery projects as embellishment and some are large enough to be used as mending patches. Do with them what you will and I hope they bring you joy and inspiration.
Also included are approximately 20 lengths of cotton, linen and hemp “waste yarn” (yarn from the ends of other weaving projects also known as '“thrums”) that are all about a yard long and perfect for embroidery and visible mending projects.
I’m including a mini embroidery hoop with these kits, too - I use them for small patches while mending or for working on small areas of an embroidery project.
Additionally this kit includes:
An extremely adorable pair of green polka dot embroidery scissors
A bent tip darning needle (I love these)
Some notes about mending:
What I hear the most in my mending classes is “I tried to fix it but it's not a proper mend”. To that I say: who says there's a right or wrong way to mend? If you fixed it, you did it! There are techniques that a person can learn but experience is the best teacher. A good place to start is right where you are.
